INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is a technique of manipulating soft tissues in the shoulders and scalp. A range of different massage pressures and rhythms are used in order to stimulate the head and neck area. A typical massage lasts about 30 minutes.

What are the benefits of Indian Head Massage?

The therapy is especially effective for relaxing the muscles in the shoulders and neck area and releasing fibrous adhesions such as knots and nodules. The release of toxins is encouraged by freeing tense, knotted muscles which in turn relieves stiffness in the neck and shoulders. As the muscles relax so oxygen flows more freely to the brain, enhancing circulation and lymph flow. Indian Head Massage can help to relieve eye strain, jaw ache, sinus congestion, insomnia and shoulder and neck ache as well as promoting hair growth by the stimulation of the scalp.

What happens during a treatment?

After a brief consultation, you will be seated in a chair whilst Corinne performs the therapy. Corinne firstly works to disperse any knots and tense areas across the shoulder blades and back before working on the region of your upper spine, towards the neck. From the neck, Corinne works out across both shoulders then along you clavicle before moving down your arms. Different movements and pressure are used throughout in order to soothe and stimulate. She then moves onto your head area where she performs a deep scalp massage and uses other techniques to induce total relaxation of the region. Corinne finishes the treatment by massaging the face gently and working on some acupressure points. This is especially beneficial to those of you who spend long hours in front of a computer screen as it relieves tension from around the eye area.

Are there any side effects?

Some clients find they feel very calm and tranquil afterwards whilst others feel very energetic. A client will often report feelings of light headedness and some feel very emotional.
